ASIST is a two-day, skills-building workshop that prepares caregivers of all kinds to provide suicide first aid interventions.
Professionals, volunteers, and other helpers need to know how to help persons with thoughts of suicide in ways that increase their safety. As an ASIST-trained first aid intervention caregiver, you will be better able to:
Identify people who have thoughts of suicide
Understand how your beliefs and attitudes can affect suicide interventions
Seek a shared understanding of the reasons for thoughts of suicide and the reasons for living
Review current risks and develop a plan to increase safety from suicidal behavior for an agreed amount of time
Follow up on all safety commitments, accessing further help as needed
Participation in the full two days of training is required. Enjoy small group discussions and skills practice that are based upon adult learning principles.
Experience powerful videos on suicide intervention that will help participants look at feelings, beliefs and attitudes about suicide in a safe, supportive environment.

Businesses, schools or organizations wanting to book an ASIST Workshop need to do so with our trained professionals. Since the workshop is a full two days, most businesses opt to do them during the work week on a two consecutive day period so that all employees can attend. We do offer ASIST on weekends, however, space is limited on a monthly basis. Please be aware that if you are wanting to book ASIST for a weekend, there may be more of a waiting period than during the business week. Please note that ASIST Workshops can only be done with a group of 15 people. Interested groups are welcome to contact us for additional information.
The ASIST Workshop costs $180 per person, $160 for students.
Please contact our office at 613-238-1089 to book your ASIST Workshop for your business, school or organization.
Please note that our ASIST trainers are certified Living Works T4T trainers which allows them the opportunity to offer both the ASIST and safeTALK workshops.
