The Distress Centre plays an integral and vital role in our community. We answer calls for help at any time of day or night. Our Crisis Line Specialists provide unbiased and non-judgmental support. All calls are confidential.

If you or someone you know is struggling to cope, we can help.

What Is Distress?

Any feeling, any issue that disturbs your well-being or ability to cope is something to talk about. Distress can range from a bad day at work to a mental illness.

It can be caused by conflicts in relationships, bullying, school pressure, physical disabilities, loneliness and more.

Anyone Can Call

You don't have to be the one in distress to get in touch with us. You can call if you are worrying about a loved one or simply to ask for a resource in your community.

As a caregiver, you are important too! All calls are confidential. We're here to listen, no matter what the circumstances.

What About Suicide?

All Crisis Line Specialists are trained in the LivingWorks Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop. This training allows them to discuss suicide with callers in an open, direct and non-judgmental manner.

It also provides Crisis Line Specialists with the skills to help callers identify risk and develop safeplans to guard against that risk.
